Terms of Service

Effective 1 May 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Storey platform, the Storey WordPress plugin, the Storey Shopify app, and the storeyplugin.co.za website (together, the "Service"). By installing the plugin/app, creating an account, or using the Service in any way, you agree to these Terms.

1. Definitions

  • "Storey", "we", "us" — the operator of the Service.
  • "You", "Customer" — the natural or legal person who installs Storey and accepts these Terms.
  • "Store" — your WooCommerce or Shopify storefront connected to Storey.
  • "Connected Platform" — Meta (Facebook, Instagram), TikTok, or other social channels you authorise Storey to publish to.

2. Eligibility & account

  • You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your Storey account password and for all activity under your account.
  • You will provide accurate and current information and keep it up to date.

3. Subscription & billing

  • The Service is provided on a paid subscription basis. A 14-day free trial is offered to new accounts.
  • For WordPress installs, billing is processed by Paystack in South African Rand (ZAR).
  • For Shopify installs, billing is processed by Shopify Billing in your store's currency.
  • Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before the renewal date.
  • You may upgrade or downgrade at any time; changes are pro-rated for the remainder of the billing period.
  • Refunds are at our discretion and generally limited to cases where the Service was unavailable for an extended period due to our fault.

4. Your content & permissions you grant us

  • You retain ownership of your products, images, descriptions and any captions you write.
  • You grant Storey a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to access, store, transform and transmit your selected product content for the sole purpose of operating the Service — including publishing posts to Connected Platforms on your behalf.
  • You represent that you have the rights to all content you ask Storey to publish, and that the content does not infringe any third party's rights.

5. Connected platforms

  • Storey publishes through APIs provided by Meta, TikTok and other platforms. Your use of those platforms is also governed by their respective terms.
  • You authorise Storey to act on your behalf within the scopes you grant during OAuth (for example, publishing posts to a Facebook Page or an Instagram Business account).
  • You can revoke this authorisation at any time by disconnecting the relevant social account in your Storey dashboard or in the platform's settings.
  • If a Connected Platform changes its policies or APIs in a way that limits Storey's ability to deliver the Service, we will adapt promptly but cannot guarantee feature parity.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • publish content that is unlawful, misleading, infringing, harassing, hateful or sexually explicit;
  • spam, scrape or otherwise abuse Connected Platforms in violation of their policies;
  • circumvent rate limits, security controls or billing;
  • resell or sublicense the Service without our written consent.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach this clause, with or without notice depending on severity.

7. Intellectual property

All right, title and interest in the Storey brand, software, documentation and visual identity remain with us. These Terms do not grant you any IP rights other than the limited right to use the Service during your subscription.

8. Service availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Posting is dependent on Connected Platform APIs and on third-party infrastructure. We will use reasonable efforts to notify you of planned maintenance.

9. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties. Our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of the Service is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential or special damages, including lost profits or lost data.

10. Indemnity

You will indemnify and hold us harmless against any claim arising from (a) content you publish via the Service, (b) your breach of these Terms, or (c) your violation of any third party's rights or applicable law.

11. Termination

  • You may cancel at any time from your dashboard.
  • We may terminate for breach of these Terms or non-payment.
  • On termination, your access to the Service ends. We will retain or delete your data per our Privacy Policy.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email to your account address and via an in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. The parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of South Africa. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have under applicable consumer-protection law.
